Story
Designed for the Sealy administration building and refurbished factory and showroom, Street & Garden Furniture was commissioned for two design phases. An initial suite of furniture including, various bench seats, tables and bin enclosures, followed by an installation of sculptural screening and lighting elements. Both where blended with the work of Peter Young Architects who had been responsible for the campus design.
Each of the items in both phases evolved from an abstraction of the Sealy company logo which also made reference to the mattress products that the company produce. This patterning was designed to be used at different scales adjusted only for safety and functional concerns. Fabricated primarily from laser-cut and folded steel, the result was a series of thin and transparent solutions which impact the surrounding environment with altered light conditions.
All necessary site analysis, product feasibility studies, prototyping and technical documentation were also undertaken by Street & Garden studio during the various design and manufacturing phases of the project.
